Physcial
Our bodies experience continuous stress on a daily basis, weakening them and causing them to work less efficiently.
Research shows that meditation has many physical benefits. It can decrease the stress hormone cortisol; increase the calming “happy” hormones, melatonin and serotonin; and decrease blood pressure and heart rate. Meditation can help harmonise the workings of our bodies as we continue to overwork them each day, on a physical, mental and emotional level, which leads to internal imbalances.
During meditation, the organs in our bodies become synchronised and work together to restore internal balance.
Mental & Emotional
In everyday life, the “thinking mind” is preoccupied with thoughts, worries and anxieties about the past or future. Through meditation, we learn to silence our overactive “thinking mind” and experience moments of peacefulness. By meditating daily – or even every other day – these peaceful moments expand so you experience more of them throughout your day, promoting a clear and focused mind, more calmness and emotional stability.
Spiritual
A paramount by-product of regular meditation is an increase in your awareness.
Awareness simply means seeing life clearly, past the negative thoughts and emotions that we often attach to everything we do and say, and without the unnecessary chaos and dramas that we create in our lives.
Every day we are faced with many decisions and choices, but often our minds are overflowing with various stresses, anxieties, worries and concerns, or with anger, hatred, greed or jealousy, and this can cause us to make the wrong choices.
When we meditate, we learn to see past all the destructive thoughts and emotions and we gradually learn to “feel” what is right for us. In other words, we learn to listen to our inner self.
