| In essence, meditation is the simple practice of calming the mind. This translates to “lowering the volume” of the constant barrage of thoughts and emotions that overwhelm our minds and bodies.
This is how it works:
Mentally & Emotionally,
Between our thoughts and emotions are gaps of silence, and when we meditate we learn to tap into this space and actively listen to that silence. The peaceful effect of these quiet moments filters through our day, leading to increased calmness, helping us become significantly less stressed, worried and emotionally charged.
Physically,
Our bodies experience enormous amounts of stress caused by too many negative thoughts and emotions, eating unhealthy foods and leading unhealthy lifestyles, and this leads to an internal imbalance. Meditation provides the perfect opportunity for our bodies to release tension and relax as our internal organs synchronise and work together to restore the balance.
Spiritually,
We are living in a fast-paced, complicated world. We worry and stress too much about work, money, rent, mortgages, partners, our health, family, children or parents. We are often fighting and surviving life instead of living it. Through meditation, we begin to see things in true perspective as we gradually learn to “feel” more and stress less.
