Self Awareness is a personal state of being. It is your realisation of who you really are, an inner feeling that exists in all of us, but in varying degrees. Through the process of self discovery we learn to access and increase our Self Awareness.
This is the act of peeling away the layers of your conditioned exterior to reveal the real you, it is your understanding and acknowledgement of how you have become the person you are today.
The nature of Self Awareness is about finding your own truth without attachments to name, culture, nationality, religion or financial or marital status, and living each day as your true self with pride, respect and contentment.
Creating Internal Balance through Self Awareness
There are four aspects to our being: emotional, mental, physical and spiritual; together they form our wholeness.
If we were to neglect one of these elements or give too much energy to another, this would cause an imbalance, which could lead to mental overload and stress; overactive emotions of anger, sadness, frustration or unhappiness; poor health or sickness; being underweight or overweight; and a lack of sense of self, of contentment or meaning in life.
We sometimes unintentionally complicate our lives with overactive emotions and thoughts from the past or about the future, unaware we may search for happiness in the wrong places, unknowingly we do not listen to our bodies, and neglectfully we do not always nourish our inner self.
Happiness exists internally in all of us – when we learn to look for it there. Optimal health is achievable by everyone – when we learn to become “in tune” with our bodies and to feel what is right or wrong for them. Mental and emotional calm can be achieved no matter who we are or what we do in life, when we understand and feel that our negative and overactive emotions and thoughts are destructive to our well-being. Contentment and fulfilment come when we learn to nourish our inner selves.
For these things to manifest, you have to choose to create them for your self.
Self Awareness is a process through which we learn to understand and become more aware of the hows, whats and whys of our thoughts, emotions, bodies and lives. It is a gradual process where we become more in tune with ourselves – emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.
This simple way of seeing things helps us to understand ourselves better and feel if and where there is an imbalance, where we are giving too much or not enough. This realisation enables us to create balance within us, which manifests naturally as external balance in our lives.
Through Self Awareness we learn to:
- see and experience life in true perspective, past the self-made chaos, drama, stress and complications of our emotions and thoughts
- see and experience the positive in our lives instead of focusing on the negative
- create inner happiness rather than searching or waiting for happiness to come our way
- create optimal health for ourselves instead of relying only on others
- nourish our inner self, as well as nourish others
Being self aware helps you to open up to a new way of perceiving life, a new way of living your life. It enables you to see new possibilities and the potential that lies within and around you.
Being self aware means living, loving and accepting who you really are, and being just that. |
